Astro’s Playroom is a free game, pre-installed to every PlayStation 5 console. Whilst initially awestruck by the game, it didn’t take very long to see why Sony’s catchy ‘For the Players’ tagline is an admirable slogan built on a history of gaming icons. This game is incredibly well-made; the care put into it is visible in every corner; but as it is it was not made for people like me. Astro’s Playroom is as old as the PlayStation 5, and this is most likely the first game new owners booted up. Despite being a brief experience, this is the kind of game that can be played with family members and is worth playing in 2025. The Astro franchise is built upon the success of the PlayStation brand and became the de facto mascot.
You also ping Astro into action with a flick of the touchpad and zip up his various special suits by running your finger upwards. Every time I had fun with the game, it always ended in me encountering an area that is simply impossible for me to finish. This includes all the aforementioned key areas of levels with physical mandatory controls, but also some minor elements that appear briefly through the game.
Astro’s Playroom Is The Pinnacle Ps5 Experience
Prince of Persia is a 1989 cinematic platform game developed and published by Broderbund for the Apple II. Taking place in medieval Persia, players control an unnamed protagonist who must venture through a series of dungeons to defeat the evil Grand Vizier Jaffar and save an imprisoned princess. In the PS1 at the start of the level, there’s a memory card with “Ken’s” written on it. This is a reference to Ken Kutaragi, the father of the PlayStation. It was he who developed the SNES sound chip for Nintendo, which led to the Play Station add-on for the system.

It’s enough content to keep you busy for around an hour or so longer, but considering Astro’s Playroom came free for anyone who owns a PS5, it’s more than enough reason to celebrate. PlayStation and Team Asobi have dropped a surprise update for Astro’s Playroom in celebration of the reveal of its full-fledged Astro title, Astro Bot. First, activate the first two rope bridges by pulling the wires out of the ground. Astro Bot from Team Asobi is a brilliant 3D platformer, one of the best PS5 exclusives, and an absolute joy to play from start to finish. I can’t imagine playing it with a standard controller — though I’m sure my family hopes I run out of new discoveries soon. This Trophy is earned by doing well in the races in Network Speed Run, which is located between the blue and green doorways in the CPU Plaza.

I always thought they missed a big trick here, and should have had Astro bot (the game) reveal the look of the Pro at the end of the game – via some sort of super power up for the mothership. Sony is losing money because it does not have a plushie of an Astro Bot. From a tropical beach to a cyberpunk raceway, they nail many areas.
During the passage of the next levels of the game, you will come across a lot of bots. You can stop them in their tracks by attacking them with fists or lasers in your legs. NK88 can also go through the levels from the start and collect the coins that are renewed there. Some children might feel frustrated with different game levels or obstacles.

Puzzle Piece 1/4 – As soon as the level starts, turn around and head back across the platforms to find this puzzle piece. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – After reaching the next group of enemies circling a platform, go to the left where you can pull a wire and reach a tightrope. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – In the next section there are two groups of enemies walking in circles around a patch of dirt. Defeat both groups to reveal a plant that spawns some platforms when attacked, then jump over onto the tree platforms to find this puzzles piece.
At the very end of the level, check the left-hand side of the CRT pile to find two dancing cats in front of a PocketStation. These reference Doko Demo Issyo, released for the device in 1999 only in Japan, and developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It’s most famous for starring Toro Inoue, also known as the Sony Cat, who wishes to become human. At the end of the short side-path to the Multi-Tap, you’ll spot a Bot with a flashlight stalked by a Bot in a straw hat. This references 2003’s Siren on PS3, developed by SCE Japan Studio. In 2016, Siren was ported to the PlayStation 4 with added Trophy support.
